SYNOPSIS FOR: A United Kingdom
A United Kingdom is an inspiring true story of a marriage that shook the world. In 1948, Seretse Khama, prince of Bechuanaland, now Botswana, met and married Ruth, an office worker from London. Their interracial marriage did not have the approval of their families nor the British and South African governments.
Seretse was prepared to accept the responsibility for ruling his country but would not deny his love for his wife. He believed no man is free if not master of himself. When Bechuanaland was declared independent they returned from imposed exile to rule their kingdom.
