SYNOPSIS FOR: The Big Sick
The Big Sick is an autobiographical love story between the Pakistani born comedian, Kumail Nanjiani and his wife, American born Emily V. Gordon.
As their relationship progresses they struggle to navigate the cultural differences between their two families. Kumail does not tell his traditional Muslim family that he is dating a white woman because they would disown him. When Emily found out, their relationship falters.
However, when Emily succumbs to a life threatening illness, Kumail rushes to be by her side. Although he is given a frosty reception by her family at first they gradually come to realize that this relationship is the real deal.
